The modular safety control samos^® PRO from Wieland Electric can now be optionally connected to an intelligent touch panel which allows hardware faults and their causes to be quickly detected and identified in the event of a malfunction.

This simplifies the diagnostic process considerably and increases the availability of the machine. The complete display package samos^® PRO SP-VISUAL-SET contains a 3.5" TFT touch panel, cable and USB stick with application software.

Not only are the requirements for safety technology continuing to increase in machine and plant construction, expectations are also extremely high when it comes to availability. In the event of a malfunction or when maintenance work is carried out, it is important that diagnostic data can be quickly and easily read out and processed. These functions are provided by an intelligent touch panel for the powerful safety control samos^® PRO.

The high-resolution HMI device communicates via the RJ45 or RS232/RS485 integrated serial interfaces and via 10/100BaseT Ethernet for Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP. It displays the current status of the machine with all the programmed safety functions, shows inputs and outputs, manages alerts, signals alerts and generates recipes. In the event of an alert, action pictures are displayed that give instructions on solving the problem. As well as showing the alert list, the device can also send e-mails to alert repair personnel. Thanks to the integrated web server function, the user has global access to the configured data. A fully-functional example application has been programmed for the HMI device, which users can learn from to configure their application quickly.

The QVGA 3.5" TFT touch panel delivers a brilliant color display with 65k colors and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. It is connected to the samos^® PRO safety control using the cable supplied. The display can be easily and quickly secured to the switch cabinet without the need for tools using the innovative 22 mm single-hole fixing and mounting clips. It is also suitable for mobile use. A USB and mini-USB interface is available for a USB stick or a keyboard. The complete display package including display, cables, USB stick and application program is called samos^® PRO SP-VISUAL-SET.
